Peugeot 307 which rear top strut mount you need. Normal vs. heavy duty suspension
If you find this video useful, buy me a coffee: www.paypal.com/paypalme/moremolecules
My car is Peugeot 307 (2007, the facelift model, 1.6 petrol TU5JP4 engine). There are two different types of rear shock absorber strut mounts, heavy duty and normal suspension.
The Borg and Beck rear shock absorber strut mount is for heavy duty suspension and the Febi one is for normal suspension. That is from the video, febi probably also have for heavy duty suspension. They are not compatible, so you need to order the correct one. The heavy duty suspension one has 16mm bolt and the normal suspension has a 13mm bolt. The distance between the bolts (middle to middle) for the heavy duty suspension is 107mm and for the normal suspension is 97mm.
So, for my car the Peugeot part number for the heavy duty suspension is 514245. The normal suspension Peugeot part number is 514232. You can find them both on amazon or ebay, just search for these.

Great video, thanks - is that flat grey circle on the boot floor a drainage plug? If it is, there would be no need to drill holes in the boot floor
No it is not a drain hole and actually I do not know what it is for. From above, there is no hole. Nevertheless even if it was, just draining it from time to time will leave mold everywhere.
@@moremolecules thanks - I have a Citroen C4 coupe and I'm having the same issue. Is there an easy way to eliminate certain potential places for the leak to be coming from? For example, my boot floor carpet is dry, my headlining is dry. So does that mean that its something lower down that's the source of the leak - like these air flow vents that you've fixed?
you are supposed to do a full charge first , possibly force start .. and then when battery is charged you then do a battery repair ( rejuvinate) .. you did it the wrong way around mate .
Wow, I mean this comment is like you have not even seen the video and stated that I did it the wrong way around "mate". Fully charged @ 3:08 miniute of the video. How is that the wrong way around?
@@moremolecules the reason i know " MATE" is because i contacted them and they advised me that was the correct way .. and yes i did watch your vidoe .. and thats why i commented .. charge battery first .. then do the repair mate .. cheers .. your welcome !!
@@mjwello Did I ask how you know? It is in the Noco Genius 5 manual. I pointed to at 3:08 minute of the video where I charge it to full before doing the repair function. I only asked how that was wrong as per your original comment and how what I was doing was the other way around.
@@moremolecules fair enough i may have missed that .. but you didnt need to recharge again afterwards.. i had issues charging my boat battery hence why i contacted them .. that was the procedure they told me .. did not say anything about doing another full charge afterwards , and i had no further issues .
thats a neat foxwell meter by the way !!
Thank you for taking the time to make this video and confirming my suspicions!
This is excellent info. I've just used electrical tape in the right place for the last 30 years as I had old-style glass-fronted lights with angled markings to show which part to block. But I've got fancy new curved polycarbonate lights now so should probably try these fancy beam deflectors, but having to get new ones for £9 every time seemed ridiculous and wasteful. Glad to see there is a more sensible approach.
How did you removed the screves from the back especially the middle one? Is there enough space? Or is it any better to try from the bottom? Thanks in advance
Where does the air come out when you fill the new empty filter with the priming pump?

Hahah, thank you for that comment, made my day. All the best
Hi there Can you tell how to test the PCV valve in this type of car?
Difficult to test the PCV valve. As long as the spring and the rubber membranes are intact it should work. It is a very simple PCV system in the 1.6HDi, the spring pushes the membrane opened, when the turbo kicks in and sucks air from the crankcase, the rubber membrane closes. That's that, it is not very sophisticated.
@@moremolecules Thank you
great video.
i love u
My 2.0 HDi farm pig also does this and I like it haha when I start to see white smoke after start up I know winter is coming 😅
I suspect that the valve stem seals are getting harder and slipping a bit of oil in the chamber, when the weather is relatively warm, this completely disappears and probably with warmer weather they get a little bit softer. I should probably try some of these oil rubber softeners in the oil, as taking it all off is quite a hassle.
very good👍

i love your videos!!! rounded bolts for egr and was so worried about finding it. all it took was a look at your descript. keep up the brill work.
Many thanks indeed for the good words, much appreciated! Funnily enough, the first time I ever did my EGR valve, I also rounded one of the bolts, hence the part number in the description of the video. Thanks again.

I've been trying to figure out something specific with the HDI/TDCI engines. Can't seem to find any info though, haven't been able to find anything on your channel about it either... So we both know how dirty the 1.6 HDI gets, question is; how can we clean the valves that the intake feeds? I've seen a few vids with other cars, whereby there is a larger hole, about the size of a custard cream/bourbon biscuit, but the HDI ones seem as big as maybe a £2 coin. The most popular method I see is a walnut clean. Sadly I don't have a drive or a compressor, only a high volume air gun. I have seen people spray, brush with a gentle bristle brush and then vacuum out the crud, so that's probably my option, but I wanted to see if there are any resources to potentially help. Would be good if you could perhaps do a video on cleaning the valves from the engine, as I reckon they'd be very grimy!
I bet they will be very grimy. Yeah, I will have to think about doing one of these, although work and so on other commitments, might be a bit. Nevertheless, many thanks indeed for the comment and suggestion. Noted!
Awesome, just what I needed for my tractor. Glorious example working on a Frenchie/Pug too... :-)
Sizin sorununuz da rampa çıkarken 3000 devirde motor korumaya alma sorunumuydu
Great video, thanks! The part looks like new after you cleaned it! I have one question, if you don't mind: is using water okay? Won't it cause rust? I thought you might use something like kerosene instead.?
Yes, I now use just water and dishwashing liquid. There is nothing that will rust in the bottom part of the EGR valve as most components are aluminium or steel alloy. Do not of course put any electronic components in water, like the top part. You could use diesel for example, but dishwashing liquid is as good in removing carbon. Now it depends on how much carbon there is, as it may be a little bit more difficult to remove. A toothbrush will help.

How about using a guitar string or something. Or maybe just having a hook like in the video is enough.
Could be, I thought that with a zip tie would work best. I think a guitar string will be too thin to wedge in between the plastic tabs.
@@moremolecules There are many gauge strings, i am sure the right one exists.
17:23 Spider walking down the pipe! On the lower right corner... 🙂 Tip: "glue" the gasket into the EGR body. i.e. a minimal amount of silicone gasket will hold it in place. To avoid the "blooper". ;-)

Purpose of EGR is to block it after u buy a car 😂

thank you. benchmark data is always best for breaking theories and myths

Yeah, probably, as long as it has a turbo and the construction of the injector tube is the same.
Can you share a link for the bracket please?
Unfortunately, there is no link for the bracket, I do not think anyone would be bothered to produce one of these. I did it myself from a piece of metal, shaped it with pliers. THe specs are in the description of the video. One could probably do a thinner metal than mine.
@@moremolecules Thank you, please can I ask since this is a heat-related staff, would a normal metal bracket work do you think?
@@LabonyKitchen It should work, I used a normal steel piece from B&Q and just bent it with pliers to shape. Any 2-4mm steel will work. It wil rust of course due to the repeated heat, but it works without a problem.
Excellent video so clear and easy to understand 👍
Great video mate.... like your deadication... looks like same engine in my fiesta... was running Japanese cars last 10 years.. so my pug knowlage ends with the 205 😂
If it is 1.6 TDCi fiesta, it is the same engine, pretty much the same engine as in the 1.6 D Mini Cooper, Mazda 3, Volvo, Suzuki, Citroens.
great video will this work on the c2 vts ?
Maybe, not too sure, probably it will actually if it is the TU5JP4 engine.
Very helpful video!!!!!
Well you did put that question to bed "Do these off the shelf sprays work?" The answer is a resounding "NO!". I really really wished they had doe a half responsible job like a carb cleaner does on a Carburetor. I can handle manually cleaning the valve as part of a routine maintenance. But the idea of spraying IN BETWEEN SERVICES WOUD HAVE BEEN IDEAL. So I'll just add that task to the maintenance schedule.
Thank you 👌
Hello, I have a Volkswagen with a 1.9 TDI engine, and I wanted to know how the fake mann hummel behaves with the original filter, and if in my case it is recommended to remove the bottom piece and cover with plastic like yours, thank you.
I cannot quite say if the "fake" behaves exactly in the same way, probably. I removed it as I thought it adds a little bit of a restriction and the purpose as a valve for putting back the oil in the sump is not done in my case.
Like it. Bro, can this be permanently plugged into car battery or should I rather charge this way only when unplugging car clamps?
You can have it permanently plugged in to the car battery, but you should not start the car with it connected. If it is conected it might burn some of the electronics. You can have a switch or something if you want to break the connection when starting the car.
I think I have to do something similar I have changed the turbo actuator and position sensor on peugeot 1.6 HDI but fault code is not going away but vehicle is driving very good again would you be able to explain how I make changes please with PP2000 thank you
Is this a camshaft sensor? I do not think there are any configuration parameters for these. Both of these are plug'n'play, nothing to configure.
@@moremoleculesThank you for the reply this is a position sensor to activate the the turbo wastegate or turbo actuator I've been told after fitting these parts you need to recalibrate the parameters in the ECU similar to what you explained with the EGR valve
@@scotmorley8526 I suspect that is the 110bhp 1.6HDi as my 92bhp does not have the position sensor. It should be somewhere there in the menu of the PP2000. Unfortunately mine does not have, so difficult to show with PP2000/Lexia.
